Feb 2021 – Jan 2022Simple Homes LLC
Asheville, NC
- Served as principal researcher on a Department of Energy award project, leading the design, manufacturing, and assembly of modular off-site panelized wall systems end-to-end.
- Developed IronPython MVPs to extract data from Revit and automate Rough Order of Material estimates, enabling long-lead item identification and streamlining communication between off-site and onsite teams.
- Hired and led a small computational design and software development team, expanding the MVPs into a full-stack solution to automate ROM, work orders, and wall panel geometry for factory-built panels.
Director of Construction Technology, Innovation Studio
Oct 2018 – Jul 2020WeWork
London, UK
- Managed an 11-person team within the EMEA Development department, setting tactical direction for Design Technology, Construction Technology, Reality Capture, and Product Standards across the region.
- Oversaw development of BIM-based MVP solutions, creating and deploying web-based applications for mechanical duct routing and sizing, IT infrastructure placement, and schematic drawing generation for design teams across 10 countries.
- Unified EMEA building construction standards across acoustics, unique space types, and high-complexity build conditions, integrating these into template libraries that fed bill-of-materials data to Supply & Cost Management at schematic design.
- Spearheaded the launch of Headquarters by We in EMEA, establishing 16 locations in seven months, collaborating with manufacturers in England and Poland to refine modular prefab products for the EMEA market.
Technical Director
Jul 2017 – Oct 2018WeWork Japan GK
Tokyo, Japan
- Led technical design decisions for WeWork Japan's expansion from 0 to 12 open locations in the first year, mentoring an initially small but quickly scaling design studio, feeding local lessons back to the global studio in NYC.
- Onboarded Architects of Record, Engineers, and Fabricators to WeWork standards while managing a 29-member team and reviewing all spatial layout and technical design details across architecture and engineering.
- Initiated and facilitated product development of custom fire-rated glazed partition systems with Nomura, Sanwa Shutter, and Kokuyo, achieving compliance with Japan fire codes while reducing Capex.
- Introduced Pantry Operational Flow as a schematic design review step, a communication tool for designers to get buy-in from operations and executives and collect feedback from architects of record and equipment vendors.
